Physical Education Grading - all items listed below are evaluated equally = 100%

The grades posted on SPAN will represent the summative grade.  Formative grades will not be posted but each student will receive feedback on the steps he/she will need to take in order to reach the competency goal(s).


1) Readiness/prepared to be physically active at an acceptable level                                                                 
2) Exhibiting a physically active lifestyle at an acceptable level                                                                    
3) Hellison’s Model of Social Responsibility

4) Demonstration of competencies through various skill assessments                                                            


Our program is designed to further improve physical fitness through skill development in areas including but not limited to:

1)    Throwing                                     8) running / skipping / hopping
2)    Catching                                      9) agility
3)    defensive techniques                10) reaction time
4)    offensive techniques                 11) hand eye coordination   
5)    game strategies                        12) foot eye coordination
6)    movement forms                       13) opposition (throw / step in opposition)
7)    kicking                                       14) striking skills (racket / bat, etc.)

Please complete the medical information form and return to your child's Healthful Living teacher.
Please notify your child’s Healthful Living teacher of any updates and medical changes throughout the school year.


If your child will need to miss physical education activity due to an illness and/or injury please send a note by your child with the reason and date along with the nature/extent of the illness/injury with your expectations of physical limitations.   This assists the teacher in making a plan for your child so that he/she will remain involved in the learning process of the current unit.  For extended illnesses (more than 2 to 3 days) a doctor’s note is required.
